Vindrarps VK B – Lunds VK B 0-3 (20-25, 18-25, 23-25)
I am not a big fan of iteration… However, this time it suits perfectly. So again the Dutch saying to describe the last match of Herrar B: ‘geen gelul, 3-0’ (‘no nonsense, 3-0 performance!’).
After the first win of Herrar B last week, we practiced really hard to keep the winning streak going. On Thursday we played a practice game against Malmö, who play in Division 2. Even though we played with quite some different setups, we managed to win all sets. So hopefully this would be a good sign for the game on Saturday against Vindrarp B.
Saturday morning we left in good spirits for Vindrarp to get ready for the game. Luckily Fredrik was kind enough to act both as a player and a coach to keep our team full of way too enthusiastic guys disciplined (again, thanks Fredrik!).
Even though we didn’t play flawless in the first set and made quite some personal mistakes, our determined team play was good enough to keep the lead and win the set 20-25. After a rough start in the second set (where the unnecessary nerves to keep the winning streak alive might have played a role), we reduced our personal mistakes, played together as a team and managed to win the second set 18-25 (shout-out to Lucas G who did a great job in his debut in Division 1 in this set!).
Now the nerves at the beginning of the set were gone and we played really well at the start, even though we had some ‘fresh players’ in the field. However, this time the sting was in the tail. We managed to get several match points. Mikael wanted to finish the game in style, so he took his inner LeBron James out and dunked the ball over the net. Unfortunately the referee was not a big fan of basketball, so we lost the point (and several match points after that). At 23-24 Mikael got another set from Klas and this time he killed the ball in a legit way, which meant the second victory in a row for Herrar B.
After the game we were in second place (for at least 12 hours, till the other games were played on Sunday). We celebrated our victory and second place in Division 1 with some good food and soft drinks until late in the night.
MVPs of the game: Klas and Christian
This time it was hard to choose and MVP (in the positive way, so too many good options to choose from). But in the end the MVP awards go to Christian and Klas. Christian was a very stable in reception and had some really great spikes and Klas managed to get a lot of single blocks from the opponents with his good sets to make our spikers’ lives easier.
A few words from today’s coach Fredrik Joabsson about the game:
“Jag är speciellt nöjd med att killarna håller en hög lägstanivå genom hela matchen. Torsdagens matchförberedande träning där vi jobbade med centerspelet för att möjliggöra singelblock för kantspelarna har verkligen följt med till matchen också och resulterar i att Christian får lekstuga på kanten ett flertal gånger. Bra jobbat killar!”
I hope to see you all at our next home game on Saturday the 11th of November at 14:15 in Fäladshallen C where we hopefully can get a three in a row winning streak!
2-3 LUND!
