Lunds VK kan med glädje presentera sitt senaste nyförvärv i Caleb Watson från Australien. Caleb blir en viktig förstärkning till anfallsspelet från sin centerposition och kommer att bidra stort till laget och klubben både på och utanför planen.
– Jag ser verkligen fram emot att spela för Lunds VK denna säsong och det ska bli riktigt kul att träffa laget, klubben och fansen från Lund, kommenterar Caleb Watson.

Klubbchefen Stefan Sjöström om Caleb:
– Vi är mycket nöjda med att ha skrivit kontrakt med Caleb. Australien har en fin volleytradition och under åren har många spelare från Australien gjort stora avtryck i elitserien. Caleb är stor och slår snabbt i mitten. Han är dessutom väldigt allround och kan också gå som högerspiker. Inte minst kommer han att bidra med sin inställning och driv att hela tiden utvecklas och bli bättre.
Caleb om den stundande flytten till Sverige och Lunds VK:
– Detta har varit en dröm ända sedan jag var en ung juniorspelare. Jag är väldigt nöjd med att ha skrivit på för Lunds VK och jag är övertygad att jag kan bidra med extra anfallskraft i truppen under 2018. Det är en fantastisk möjlighet för mig att spela professionell volleyboll utomlands och lämna min klubb i Australien. Tillsammans med mina nya lagkamrater är jag säker på att vi kan förbereda oss för en stark säsong i den svenska elitserien.

What made you choose to come to Lund?
After a successful season in the Australian Volleyball League in 2017, I decided it was time to search for an opportunity abroad. I approached my good friend and coach about playing abroad and we began to search for a team in Europe. My agent was able to connect me with Lund and we both agreed that this would be the perfect fit to start my career. Many Volleyroos have begun their careers in Sweden and I hope this is the start of an exciting career for me. There are always good internationals coming to Sweden in each team so being a part of it all will be a great experience for me.
Tell us a bit about yourself – what is your volleyball background?
I have been playing volleyball for about 8 years now and have always been involved with indoor and beach volleyball growing up. I have represented my state, Western Australia (WA) both at a junior and senior level, accomplishing many great results and memories I will never forget. Since 2016 I have been focusing on indoor volleyball and have dedicated my time to getting myself physically and mentally ready for the transition to playing in Europe. Outside of volleyball I love to spend time at the beach as surfing is a big part of my life. In Perth, where I am from we are able to surf all year round so this is something I will miss for sure.
How would you describe yourself as a player using three words?
Adaptable, Hard-working, Driven.
What do you expect to contribute to the team and to the club in general?
As this is my first year abroad, I hope to contribute to the club both on the court and off court. I hope to be a “go to” player and will look to be a leader for my new team mates. I know that there are some really tough teams in the Elitserien so I will do everything I can to fight for my new team and to focus on moving the team and club forward in 2018. Off the court, I wish to help with junior coaching and being a role model for younger players coming up in the club. I look forward to meeting all the club members and making some new friends in my first season abroad.
Any final message to the team, club and fans before arriving in Lund?
I’m very excited to come from down under to Lunds VK. I have spent the last few months preparing for this opportunity and I will see everyone in the coming weeks when I arrive.
